Namibia is a Mecca for lovers of windsurfing and kiteboarding, and about 500 km north of Walvis Bay, Paul Larsen and his Vestas SailRocket 2 team on Friday November 16, set a sailing speed record of an average 59,23 knots in 500 meters distance.

The record was set in moderate conditions with a 25 knot average wind, breaking the previous one of 51.36 knots reached by Alain Thebault team in L’Hydroptère in 2009.

Later on Sunday November 18, the Rocket Vestas Sail 2 team improved their own result reaching 59.38 knots of an average speed, which let them to set another record.
