The S Class range from Princess Yachts is set to epitomise the flybridge sports yacht market; combining the ultimate in luxury yacht design with exceptional performance capabilities. However this is to be expected from a company that has been making flybridge motoryachts since 1974.
All that Princess Yachts have learned over decades at the top of their game in both the V-shaped hull and sports yacht markets can be seen working in perfect harmony in the new S72 model. This new 72 foot hull is expected to reach speeds of over 37 knots however living up to their company objective, the most lavis of designs can be found outside and in. The S Class name really is fitting for this yacht, with sleek, impressive lines that make it look quick even at standstill.
Starting witht the outside space, as you can see, there are sunbathing areas at the for and aft of the yacht with an outdoor salon feel to the one on the bow. What cannot be seen however, is the jet rib garage fitted under the rear pad to cater for a 3.9m tender as well as a variety of other toys. The ample flybridge sitting area provides plenty of seating giving owners or charter customers the option of relaxing in the sun at anchor or high speed. This boat was built to put a smile on your face.
Moving seamlessly to the interior of the S72, just as is achieved by the main salon, we find ourselves transitioning from a sunny playground of speed and relaxation to one of calm and privacy however with the large rear doors, vast wraparound windows and no less than a carbon-fibre sunroof you really do have the option to enjoy both at the same time and bring the outside inside.
As you can see, you wont be short for space in this open space, and with cabins for 6 guests and 2 crew its a good job. The main salon of the Princess S72 has no less than 3 comfortable seating areas giving not only room for whoever is staying on the boat but also giving plenty of space for entertaining friends and family whenever you wish: a level of space that would put most normal flybridge yachts to shame. These guests will stay in 2 main double rooms as well as a separate twin room, all with their own beautifully finished en-suite bathrooms. The twin crew cabin is found to the rear of the boat with separate access.
Speaking of fittings, the whole interior of the boat is beautifully finished, from the large modern kitchen complete with dishwasher and washing machine to the variety of luxury woods to choose from for the furniture, the finest leathers and polished steel. The british heritage is also maintained, as with all Princess Yachts with herringbone designs and traditional cabinetry. However don’t just take our word for it, take a virtual 360º tour on the Princess Yachts website.
Hull #1 was delivered to Miami in February of 2014 however the second is currently in construction and will make its European debut in Southampton and Cannes in September at their respective boat shows. Pay them a visit to get a chance to see this fantastic new yacht in the flesh. The S72 is however, only the start of a very exciting venture for Princess Yachts as they start upon their sportsbridge models, with the larger S80 due for release in 2015 and two more models in the pipeline. Here at aBoatTime we are liking what we see so far and can’t wait to see more.
